counter-strike??

I recently bought a CD whose name was:Counter Strike:Beirut.
It had the following files in it-
2D Counter Strike
Counter Strike 1.5
Counter Strike 1.6
Counter Strike Central Map pack
Counter Strike Source Cs Beirut II
Deathmatch Plus
Lambada Arena
Pod Bot 2.5
Pod Bot 2.6

The trouble is I have no idea how to play this game. I installed Steam from the net but to no avail . I clicked on 'Counter Strike Source CS Beirut' in the CD but only
a couple of strange looking docs and a read me file came up. Even th other files on the CD are not much good.
What should I do to play the game??Or is Counter Strike some sort of expansion pack for some game I do not have????

counter-strike is a tactical first-person shooter video game which originated from a Half-Life modification by Minh "Gooseman" Le and Jess "Cliffe" Cliffe. The game has been expanded into a series since its original release, which currently includes Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Counter-Strike: Source, Counter-Strike: Anthology and Counter-Strike on Xbox.
I personally have every version.

firstly, cs 2d is a game itself, supposedly a 2D version of the game

Cs 1.5 is the popular original version and you play it without steam engine.

Cs 1.6 is like a better version, with better graphics etc...and is used with steam or any other server engines

your map pack i think should be stored to cs 1.6

and your cs source is a remake of the original cs and made it with better graphix / gameplay.... it alone is a game

deathmatch/ lambda are also less advance games created from cs.

and podbot is a software that programs robot into the game, just put it in the folder: X:Counter-StrikecstrikePODBot

today I am giving some easy steps of making counter strike server:

1.portforwording,for example forword port 27015 from your modem or router, it's allow to other internet and wan users join your server.every modem have diffrent way of portforwording, go to "portforword.com" and find your modem portforwording instruction.

2.make folder "hlds" to any partition,like you make folder in partition C:/.download server creator and install it to c:/hlds, after installing automaticaly hlds updater will open, it will take time becouse it will download around 200 mb files [btween updating if your net got disconnected,you will need to reinstall server creator].

3.download non steam patch,install it to c:/hlds,it will allow to jion non steam 47 plus 48 can jion your server

4.goto c:/hlds/cstrike open server.cfg and write:

setmaster add 207.173.177.11
setmaster add 69.28.151.162
setmaster add 72.165.61.189
setmaster add 68.142.72.250
setmaster add hlmaster.jolt.co.uk
setmaster add 65.73.232.251:27040
setmaster add 65.73.232.253:27040

setmaster add 207.173.177.11:27010

5.goto c: hlds open HLDS launcher set your settings and start server.

Get some reducing lag tips:

After opining hlds launcher goto task maneger[ctrl+Alt+Delete], then goto process tab ,findhlds,right click on hlds and set piority real time.

Install HL booster, download from {www.cspk.co.cc/hlbooster.html],it will reduce latancy and reduce lag

goto hlds folder,then goto cstrike folder open server.cfg and write :
