So here's the deal. I love my little brother absolutely to death. But he has a problem with tearing himself away fro the video games and getting his schoolwork done. He is failing 5 out of 6 of his classes!
This has been an ongoing problem since he was in grade school. He is now a Sophomore. I can see him on a self-destructive, heartbreaking path.
Now my mother has claimed to have grounded him, taking away his time spent with friends. But he still sits on his rump playing video games and texting all day. And I've tried my hardest to get him to do his homework and missing assignments, but obviously being only a little more than a year older I have limited influence.
When I have tried to talk to my mom about it, she constantly turns me away. I can just see her letting his life fall to peices and it seems like I am powerless. How can I get her to help me get his life on track?
*note: She has NEVER been able to disipline. I was grounded MYSELF because she wouldn't.
It sounds like your brother is stupid and if your best friend asks if he can cut him you should say yes. hahah okay anyway here is my real answer:
So maybe your mom should decide that it is time for him to lose his phone nad video game privlages. Have you tried asking your mom how she feels about it? Your mom may not be able to discipline him because she is never home. You can always tell your brother it is time to lose his chance to play video games. Just take it away when your mom is gone and tell him he gets his phone and video games back when he finishes his homework. You have more influence over him then you think and because you are the oldest and your mom is gone you may very well have to take over the disciplining. He obviously does not have enough value for his life and because he is your brother you may just have to take over the household. Have him on complete and utter lock down until he can do his homework infront of you.
